Working with partner organisations, the Community Development Team plays both a lead and supporting role across the region to increase levels of physical activity to create healthier, happier, and better-connected communities towards a stronger Aotearoa.

The Community Development Lead - Participation & Coaching supports Regional Sports Organisations and College Sport Wellington to implement Balance is Better principles with a focus on best meeting the needs of participants (particularly rangatahi) and positively impacting the sport system. The Lead supports Nuku Ora's approach to parent education, coach development, women and girls, and co-design opportunities in all areas of work in support of diversity and inclusion and aligning with the needs of less active communities.
