First residential kicks off Leading Leaders Development Programme

The Leading Leaders Development Programme is well underway now, with the first residential having taken place at Silverstream Retreat from 12-14 March. This is a nine-month leadership development programme led by Winsborough and supported by Sport Wellington, composed of three residentials and one final presentation/reflection day. The programme is designed off the Leadership Framework. 

The Leadership Framework for sport and recreation in Aotearoa New Zealand represents the weaving together of the critical leadership elements that members of the sport and recreation community have identified for the sport and recreation sector to be successful. The Leadership Framework is structured into five settings of leadership; Leading Self, Leading Teams, Leading Leaders, Leading Organisations and Governing Organisations. 

The Leading Leaders Development programme aims to assist the implementation of the Leadership Framework into the Greater Wellington Region. 

There are 14 participants from the sport and recreation sector in the greater Wellington region participating, with representation from Regional Sports Organisations, Councils, Halberg Foundation, College Sport Wellington, and the YMCA. Prior to the first workshop, the participants completed a Hogan and a 360 assessment, and received a one-on-one debrief of their 360 results with one of the three programme facilitators.

During the residential, participants dove into these assessments and worked as a group and in coaching triads through leadership models and the leadership framework. This first module of the programme is designed so that participants focus on "self", reflecting the Leadership Framework and it's "Leading Self" first setting. 

The second residential will be held in May.
