Community Strength and Balance

Live Stronger for Longer

As we age, staying active and independent is key to maintaining our quality of life. Live Stronger for Longer is a nationwide movement, supported by ACC and its partners, that helps older adults stay independent and reduce their risk of falls and injuries, keeping them living the life they want.

The Live Stronger for Longer movement aims to reduce the economic, social, and personal impact that falls have on older adults, their families and whānau, and their communities. This means reducing older adults’ risk of falling and getting a fracture if they fall.

Falls are the most common cause of injury for New Zealanders aged 65 and over. Around 30% of older adults living in the community will experience a fall each year, with up to 20% requiring hospital care. Live Stronger for Longer works to reduce these risks through Community Strength and Balance classes, the Nymbl app and the Fracture Liaison Service.
